"Breathing Easy: Discover the Seven Countries with Sparkling Clean Air According to WHO Guidelines!"

Breathing Easy: Only Seven Countries with Clean Air According to WHO Guidelines! [SWOP NEWS]

Global Air Quality Check:

Let's talk about air, people! A recent survey by IQAir, a Swiss air quality tech company, has jingled some bells, but don't panic, we're here to walk you through it. Most of the world is breathing dirtier air than your doctor would recommend, leaving only seven countries meeting the World Health Organization’s guidelines for tiny toxic particles known as PM2.5. And who are these fresh air champions, you ask? The squad includes Australia, New Zealand, Estonia, Iceland, and some small island states. Hooray!

No Particulate Matter Here:

On the other end of the scale, the unfavorable fivesome of most polluted countries consisted of Chad, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Democratic Republic of the Congo, and India. Their PM2.5 levels smash the guideline limits, with Chad stretching to a whopping 18 times higher.

Improvement on the Horizon:

In the realm of good news, the annual report also had some green flags. The share of cities meeting the PM2.5 standards rose from 9% in 2023 to 17% in 2024. Notable improvements were seen in India, home to six of the 10 dirtiest cities globally, where air pollution fell by 7% within a year! China is also progressing, with its PM2.5 pollution falling by nearly half between 2013 and 2020.

Working for Cleaner Air:

So, what's the next step, folks? Governments can help clear the air by following a clean recipe: funding renewable energy projects and public transport, encouraging walking and cycling, and banning the burning of farm waste. As for us, let's start thinking about our air quality before it's too late.
