"I Tried to Recruit Volunteers for a Clean Air Campaign in Lahore, But Everyone Was Busy!"

Breathe: Lahore - The Art Project for Clean Air Campaign in Lahore, Pakistan [SWOP NEWS]

**Breathe: Lahore - A Public Art Campaign Against Air Pollution** Dryden Goodwin's public art campaign, "Breathe: Lahore", aims to raise awareness about air pollution in Lahore, Pakistan. The city owns the sad title of the worlds most polluted city. The project, produced by Invisible Dust, features over 230 pencil sketches of Abid Omar, a founder of the Pakistan Quality Initiative, who reluctantly agreed to participate after struggling to find an air pollution advocate willing to be featured. The artwork includes detailed depictions of body parts and torso studies, highlighting the struggle of individuals with poor air quality.

Artist's Intent:
Dryden Goodwin's goal is to elevate awareness about the act of breathing and the impact of air pollution on individuals.

Project Details:
The artwork ranges from 2 meters by 1 meter to 12 meters by 6 meters, with some installations featuring digital animations and a 41-minute, 3-second animation at Lahore's Bradla Hall.

Local Impact:
The campaign is part of the Lahore Biennale 2024 and has transformed into over 500 digital bills, aiming to ignite urgent conversations about environmental issues.

Global Reach:
The project has previously been showcased in London, honoring nine-year-old Ella Adoo-Kiss-Debrah, who passed away due to air pollution.

Future Plans:
Lucy Wood from Invisible Dust hopes to expand the project to additional cities, including Delhi, which struggles with poor air quality.

Regional Collaboration:
Enhancing air quality in Pakistan requires collaboration with India and the broader South Asian region, with efforts underway to unite environmental specialists from both nations. The campaign serves as a crucial reminder of the pressing need for clean air and aims to cultivate a collective effort towards environmental sustainability.
