Smogocalypse Hits Delhi: Taj Mahal Now Invisible! [SWOP NEWS]

Toxic Smog:
High pollution levels, combined with humidity, becalmed winds, and a drop in temperature, have created severe smog in India, obscuring landmarks like the Taj Mahal and the Golden Temple.

Flight Delays:
Delhi flights have been delayed, with 88% of departures and 54% of arrivals delayed due to poor visibility.

Health Concerns:
The smog has led to a surge in respiratory issues, including allergies, coughs, and asthma attacks, particularly among children.

School Closures:
In response to the severe air quality, New Delhi has closed all primary schools to protect students from the hazardous conditions.

Anti-Pollution Measures:
The government has introduced stricter anti-pollution measures, including a ban on non-essential construction, urging residents to avoid burning coal for heating, and promoting the use of public transport.

Pollution Levels:
New Delhi's air quality remains in the "severe" category, with a score of 424, according to IQAir's live rankings. The city is expected to see some improvement in air quality by Friday, moving from "severe" to "very poor."

Farm Fires:
The number of farm fires in northern India has risen to almost 2,300 this week, contributing significantly to the pollution.
